San Juan roll towards ‘Jap’ Brown Trophy
SAMBA Xtra Malt East San Juan United continued their relentless march towards the Eastern Football Association title and Arthur “Jap” Brown Trophy, when they edged Joe Public 2-1 at San Juan Secondary ground.
Wendell Isaac stroked in the winner of Saturday afternoon’s game after Allan Sorzano had given the Samba Boys their opener. Aaron Rapper scored for the Eastern Lions. But Hearty Foods Bulls kept up their challenge albeit 11 points adrift, with a 6-1 shellacking of Athletico Sports Institute at the Aranguez Savannah. The game was a revelation for Kevin Daniel who scored all six goals for the winners, while Peter Rivers got the lone goal for ASI. Last season’s runners-up Carib FC had a default win over JGS Maloney Two Touch, but Crab Connection crawled all over East/West Coaching School 4-0 on doubles from Marlon Warner and Clevon Raphael at Five Rivers ground, Arouca. And Police shut out BM Spurs 3-0, with Edmund Homer scoring twice and ex-national striker Dexter Cyrus getting the other at St Joseph Recreation ground. At Boundary Road ground, TSTT whipped Delta Glass Young Hearts 3-1, with Nigel Reyes, Dawn Edwards and Wendell Alexander scoring one goal each for the telecommunications men. Fabien Henry got the consolation.
