Senior Games promote Over-50’s health
TRINIDAD AND Tobago Senior Connection (TTSC), a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles among senior citizens, will host the 2004 Senior Games on May 8 and 9 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium and the adjoining Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo.
TTSC have been achieving their aims through education, fitness and sport and has formed an organising committee for the games which will help promote heath and physical fitness in adults 50 years and over. Senior Games have been a popular method of getting the elder segment of society involved in fun activities in the USA, Canada and Mexico, involving more than 6,000,000 seniors in upwards of 20 athletic, non-athletic and social events. The main purpose of the games is to encourage senior citizens to participate in healthy lifestyles, educate and inspire through workshops and seminars, provide adults with an opportunity to compete in an atmosphere of friendship and support and to promote a positive image of society’s elders. The Senior Games will also host a Health Arena in which free testing and health information will be made available to the general public.
Investors are also guaranteed benefits over a six-month period leading up to the Games, with a platinum sponsorship deal worth $35,000, a gold sponsorship valued at $25,000, silver sponsorship priced at $15,000, bronze sponsorship costing $10,000 as well as other investments to the tune of $7,000 and $5,000 respectively.
