Father, daughter shoot rifle history

RIFLE SHOOTING history was recently created when a father and daughter emerged the best shots at the Trinidad and Tobago Rifle Association (TRA) National Championships.

BWIA captain Norris Gomez and his daughter Caroline dominated the three days of competition at Tucker Valley, Chaguaramas from October 11 to 13. Gomez topped the “X” Class on the first and third days with aggregate scores of 157.16 and 157.21 respectively to clinch the overall honours with a grand score of 466.48 points. His daughter Caroline, an executive with CLICO is keenly following in her father’s footsteps scoring 146.07 on the first day, 138.04 on the second for an overall aggregate 423.16 for the top prize. Apart from each day’s aggregate at stake, there was the grand aggregate going to the national champion, the top scorer in each class over the three days. The prestigious Sir Solomon Hochoy Trophy was then shot between the top ten shooters in the grand aggregate.
