Crab Connection oust Bulls from L/Cup

A DOUBLE from Sheldon Thomas proved vital as Crab Connection advanced to the second round of the Eastern Football Association (EFA) League Cup series. In their first round second leg clash, Thomas’ goals lifted The Crabs to a  3-2  victory over Hearty Food Bulls, at the St Joseph Recreation Gro-und, on Tuesday, for a 6-5 aggregate win. Veteran striker Warren Butler was the other scorer for Crabs while Kevin Daniel and Hector Morris scored for the Bulls. The Crabs will now play JGS Maloney Two Touch, who had a first round bye, in the quarter-finals on Tuesday at Maloney. Needing to overturn a 4-2 deficit against Carib, Delta Glass Young Hearts won their second leg contest 4-3 but lost on aggregate by a 7-6 margin. Roger Phillip and Sheldon Lynch both scored doubles for Young Hearts while Jellineau Gill, Clyde Gill and Billy Dee Scantlebury got the crucial goals for Carib.

The Brewery Boys will oppose runaway league leaders Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan United in the quarters at Boundary Road, San Juan. Holding a commanding 7-3 lead over BM Spurs after their first leg match, the East San Juan lads were held to a 2-2 draw at the Aranguez Savannah. Sheldon Hernandez and Sean Jack were on target for San Juan while Earl Williams and Lennox Williams replied for the Spurs. Joe Public who were on a first round bye, will face Police in the quarters at Squadron Ground, Arouca. The lawmen who held a slim 1-0 lead entering their second leg game against bottom-of-the-table East/West Coaching School, managed a 1-1 draw at Constantine Park, Macoya to advance. Edmond Homes was the goal-getter for Police with Alvin Guevara scoring for the Coaching School. Tuesday’s other quarter-final will see Athletico Sports Institute playing  with TSTT at the Aran-guez Savannah. Already with a 2-0 first leg advantage, TSTT battled to a 5-4 win over last season’s champions WASA Clean and White at the WASA Grounds, St Joseph, with Joel Penco netting twice, while Joel Gibbons, Kevon Henry and Kevin Pinder added one each. Kirth Hutchins and Gregory West both scored doubles for WASA.
