‘Battle of Belmont’ Saturday

FORMER stars of Belmont Intermediate, National Colleges Football League champions of 1969, will attempt to defend their victory over their 1992 national Intercol winning Belmont Secondary counterparts in the second annual match up between the teams. The action takes place on the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo training field on Saturday from 4.15 pm. In the inaugural match last year, ex-Strike Squad national midfielder Marlon Morris scorerd four goals to lead the 1969 footballers to 6-4 victory over their younger opponents. The 1969 squad will sport apart from Morris, Gordon Husbands and Ron La Forest, while the 1992 team will comprise among others Sean Marshall, the skipper, current national stars Nigel and Anton Pierre and Colin Roberts.
