QRC, Mucurapo win 2-1 in InterCol

QRC EARNED a come-from-behind 2-1 triumph over Morvant/Laventille while Mucurapo squeezed past St Mary’s by a similar scoreline in yesterday’s RBTT Intercol North Zonal double-header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. Both the Royalians and Mucurapo will face off in the North Zonal semis on Tuesday. In the afternoon’s first encounter, the Morvant lads went into the dressing room at halftime leading 1-0 through a strike from Jamal Harewood but their joy will not last until the end. Simba Aberdeen got the equaliser for the Royalians six minutes into the second half, tapping into the open net after midfielder Kyle Mc Ivor sent a square ball past two defenders and the goalkeeper.

And, Aberdeen’s strike partner Aldo Hope notched the winner in the 72nd, breaking Morvant’s offside trap and slotting home from close range. Quarterfinal action concludes today with double-headers at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella and at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima. Down South, Mayaro are fancied to defeat Vessigny for the third successive time this season when they square off from 3 pm while, two hours later, Princes Town will also be aiming for their third straight win against St Benedict’s. Toco are not expected to pose much of a threat to the “Dial Dynamos” Arima from 3 pm at Malabar while St George’s should get the better of the “Blue Thunder” El Dorado after registering two wins in the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL).
