Blatter praise for Warner
FIFA president Joseph Sepp Blatter praised Trinidad and Tobago’s Jack Austin Warner for his commitment and support in helping him overcome several challenges. In his letter sent to Warner on Tuesday, Blatter said the recent extraordinary FIFA congress held in Doha was a resounding success. And he said this success was due in no small measure to the depth of Warner’s support, which “indeed helped me to overcome the challenges that I faced not so long ago.” Blatter pointed out it was the first time in the history of FIFA that all 204 member associations were present at a congress.
He said the last 16 months had been a period of unrivalled change and evolution in FIFA. Blatter said it was hard to believe that the dark days in the build-up to the Seoul Congress were but a little overt a year ago. But he pointed out the Doha congress truly showed the strength of the bonds that join people. He indicated that FIFA was now stronger than ever, pulling in one direction for the good of football. The FIFA boss said, “each and every tournament this year has been a wonderful success story for the game of football.” Warner was chairman of the organising committee for the recent Women World Cup, and holds the same position for the FIFA World Youth Championships United Arab Emirates 2003 which begins in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, on November 17. Blatter in his letter told Warner, “I deeply appreciate your unwavering, loyal support and send my very best wishes to you and family.”
