Five charged with kidnapping woman

FIVE MEN yesterday appeared before Magistrate Ejenny Espinet at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ First Court charged with the kidnapping and false imprisonment of a Caroni woman.

Alistair Phillip of Rohan Road, Arouca, Gerald St Louis of Railway Road, Caroni, Navin Ali of Kelly Village, Caroni and Jason Gobin and Moonilal Seecharan, also of Kelly Village were jointly charged with kidnapping 33-year-old Shamshoon Mohammed on October 1 and falsely imprisoning her at a wooden shack at George Street, Sangre Grande between October 1 and 4. St Louis was also charged with possession of a firearm. Mohammed was alle-gedly abducted at around 7pm on October 1 at the Caroni Community Centre, New Street, Caroni where she was participating in a keep-fit class. She reportedly untied herself and escaped from a shack three days later. The five were remanded into custody pending tracing and will re-appear in court today.
