One grave for three children
The three children who perished when fire destroyed their Petit Valley home on Saturday are to be buried in one grave. The funeral is expected to be held on tomorrow or Friday.
Yesterday, Jason Mcintosh, the father of the three victims Alexis, four, Leslie, three, and Jason, two, spent all of yesterday trying to register the deaths of the children and finalise funeral arrangements. The grieving dad told Newsday that he was contacted by the Ministry of Social Development on Monday and told that a funeral agency wanted to cover the funeral expenses for the three children. Mcintosh said that he is hoping to have the funeral service on Thursday or Friday. He went to Port-of-Spain to register the three deaths but was sent back to Petit Valley to do so. He said that he has been receiving overwhelming support from members of the public. Several persons telephoned Newsday yesterday promising assistance in the form of clothing and foodstuffs for the family. The Rotary Club of Diego Martin has promised to rebuild the home which the fire destroyed. Yesterday, Elizabeth Ali, mother of the three children, was comforted by relatives and has been crying constantly since her babies died. Ali and Mcintosh were questioned at the West End Police Station on Monday as part of the investigations into the three deaths. A report is yet to be submitted by fire officers. Newsday learned that an inquest may be held shortly.
