Georgia stay in semi-pro
GEORGIA FC will remain in the Warner’s Group of Companies Semi-Professional division of the Tobago Football Association for another season.
And it was Elroy Phillips’ double strike on Wednesday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago, which secured their place. The Georgia footballers edged Earl Brokes 2-1, with Phillips giving the winners a 1-0 half time lead after blasting a shot into the nets in the 41st minute. The ace striker completed his double in the 48th, but an own goal by Robbie Thomas in the 63rd gave Earlbrokes some hope but they were unable to get the equaliser the rest of the way.
Earlbrokes will now be demoted to Conference play next season, and will be replaced by Mason Hall Police Youth Club who won the Conference Big Six series. Meanwhile, Bi Water Stokelyvale collected three points from their final league game with 1976 Phoenix XS when their 4-1 defeat was reversed by the disciplinary committee of the TFA. The meeting found that Phoenix used an ineligible player, so the points pushed The Vale into a fourth place finish on the league standings.
