Signal Hill, Pres (Chaguanas) Intercol winners
SIGNAL HILL needed kicks from the penalty spot to defeat Scarborough 3-1 at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago, yesterday, and secure their second title of the season, the Tobago Zone RBTT Intercol. The Hill Boys, who reclaimed the Tobago Zonal Championship title earlier this season, held the 2002 winners Scarborough to a goalless tie after 90 minutes of regulation time and the scoreline was unchanged after 20 minutes of sudden death extra-time.
But Signal Hill held their nerves during the penalty shootout this time, after going down to St Anthony’s in the Big Five also by kicks, and, with the victory advanced to the national Intercol eight-team series. Presentation Chaguanas shut out Carapichaima 4-0 to retain their Central Zone title at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Balmain, Couva. Midfielders Kevon Lalloo and Dwayne De Four gave the Pres a 2-0 halftime lead, with Anthony O’Garro and Reyon Pegus completing the rout in the second half. Pres will now face North Zonal runners-up and defending national Intercol champs St Anthony’s in an early match of the knockout series on Friday, at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
