Malick girls kick off Intercol defence

MALICK SENIOR Secondary, minus captain Nadia James, fellow midfielder Nyasha Reyes and striker Tanekar Alexander, who are currently on national team duty in Suriname, will begin the defence of their RBTT Girls Intercol title today when they host Pleasantville Senior. Even without the petite duo, Malick should get the better of the southerners in their preliminary round tussle at the Malick School Grounds.

Last year’s runner-up St George’s College will have to do without national midfielder Aveann Douglas today when they oppose Corpus Christi at the St George’s Grounds, Barataria. Another fancied team Diego Martin Secondary will miss ace Trinidad and Tobago striker Maylee Attin-Johnson when they welcome Carapichaima Senior to their School Grounds. El Dorado, without the services of TT midfielder Ayana Russell, will travel to Union Claxton Bay to meet the Central Zone winners while Fyzabad should get the better of Maple Leaf at the Fyzabad School Grounds.

All matches kick off at 3.15 pm with the exception of a double-header at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima as well as a fixture at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Toco will face off against Point Fortin at 2 pm at Arima with the hosts squaring off against Providence two hours later. And Moruga and Matura High School will battle for a quarterfinal spot at 2 pm at the Marabella venue. The quarters are scheduled for Monday.
