Blue Basin man charged with murder
A DIEGO MARTIN man yesterday appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with the murder of a member of the local arm of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Kumi Scott of LP 2 Field Trace, Blue Basin, Diego Martin, appeared before Chief Magistrate Sherman McNicolls at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Eighth Court charged with the November 3 murder of 46-year-old Glen Farrell. Farrell, a welder, was leaving the Sea Trace Extension, Diego Martin headquarters of the 12 Tribes of Israel following an anniversary party, when he was allegedly robbed and shot by two armed men. He later died on arrival at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. Scott was charged by Sgt Dave Duncan of the West End Police Station. Scott’s father was present in court and told McNicolls that he had not yet retained legal counsel for his son. The magistrate advised him to do so as soon as possible. Acting Insp Kenneth Cordner was the prosecutor. Scott was remanded in custody and will reappear in court on November 20.
