Bailey, Melville top golf awards
AT Republic Bank’s Junior Golf Clinics’ award ceremony at the Chaguaramas Golf Club, Sirron Melville and Keziah Bailey copped the top awards for their performances in the boys and girls Six-Hole Tournament. Also taking home top prizes were Astra Francis and Stefan Myers who both topped their respective groups in the Three-Hole series. Francis had a score better than her male counterpart Myers by one stroke. The ceremony marked the end of the four-clinic series held this year, and over 100 participants between 5-15 years-old were on hand to receive their awards and get a rousing cheer from parents and their peers.
Clinics are assisted by many former national golfers and professional coaches and has produced a number of national standouts who have gone on to represent Trinidad and Tobago in international tournaments, a fact noted by Republic’s group corporate communications manager Anna-Maria Garcia-Brooks. Garcia-Brooks pledged her bank’s commitment and Chaguaramas Golf Club president Shabir Khan thanked them for their support of the programmes which assist in the positive development of its target group. The Republic Bank Chaguaramas Golf Clinics will resume in January 2004, with registration beginning on January 17 at the Chaguaramas Golf Course.
