Gordon crush field at CARIFTA trials

Gordon, who finished fourth in the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany, produced a convincing victory in the boys’ Under-20 400- metre hurdles at the Trinidad and Tobago team trials yesterday.

The crowd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo saw the 18-year- old, representing the club Memphis Pioneers, obliterate the field in 52.01 seconds, well below the CARIFTA standard time of 54.0 seconds. Shane Miguel of Neon Trackers was next in 58 seconds flat while Sherwin Jackson of Cougars was third in 58.43.

Gordon will be Trinidad and Tobago’s main medal hope at the Cayman Islands, having achieved the qualifying time for the boys’ Under-20 110m hurdles on Saturday.
