TT’s Sancho arrested in Scotland
Trinidad and Tobago’s and Dundee defender Brent Sancho and his Spanish teammate Nacho Novo have been arrested and charged with assault following an alleged incident in Dundee’s city centre in Scotland yesterday. Sancho and Novo were arrested along with another man in the city’s South Ward Road at about 0300 GMT.
It is expected that they will appear in court tomorrow. According to Sancho’s father Keith: “He was pulled by the hair by the police who cursed at him before putting him into the car.” Keith Sancho, public relations officer in the Ministry of Health, described his son as a strong person “spiritually and mentally” and added that his dreadlocked son “would not be fazed by this incident.” Sancho has been dogged by injury and has made only four appearances since his arrival in Scotland this summer. Sancho previously played with defending champions CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh in the TT Pro League and was granted a work permit to play for Dundee in Scotland in July this year. Spaniard Novo is the club’s top scorer this season with 14 goals. Dundee are in seventh position in Scotland’s Premier Division with 16 points from 13 games.
