Nunez-Tesheira seeks $20M damages for husband’s death
Just Monday last she lost in the polls to Congress of the People’s Anil Roberts in the fight for the elected Member of Parliament for the constituency of D’Abadie/O’Meara.
Nunez-Tesheira’s husband, former national footballer Russell Tesheira, aged 53, died on April 13, 2004, at Gulf View Medical Centre, Gulf View, La Romain, where he was warded following a surgical procedure.
He was Clico’s vice-president of sales and agencies administration.
Nunez-Tesheira is seeking over $20 million in damages for her husband’s death, in a lawsuit naming the Gulf View Medical Centre, urologist Dr Lester Goetz and anaesthesiologist Dr Crisen Jendra Roopchand, as defendants.
The matter came up for hearing yesterday before Master Brenda Paray-Durity, and was quickly adjourned to December 9.
Douglas Mendes, SC, and Nyree Alfonso and Simon de Labastide are representing Tesheira while Kemraj Harrikissoon appears for Gulf View Medical Centre and Roopchand, while Michael Hamel-Smith appears for Goetz.
Nunez-Tesheira has accused doctors of putting her husband at risk when they performed a prostate surgery on him.
In their defence, the defendants have refuted the claims.
