No bail for guard charged with shooting guard

A 34-YEAR-OLD security guard was denied bail yesterday when he appeared before a San Fernando magistrate charged with shooting   another security guard.

George Giles of Freeport appeared before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington charged with wounding security guard Junior Salana, with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. The charge was laid indictably and Giles was not called upon to enter a plea. Giles, who is attached to a Chaguanas-based security firm, was represented by attorney Ravi Goljar. Salana was shot in the leg during an argument outside Jenny’s Wok, Victoria Village, San Fernando, on Wednesday. Salana, 32, who is employed as a security guard at the restaurant, is warded in stable condition at San Fernando General Hospital. The magistrate subsequently remanded Giles into custody and adjourned the matter to December 8.
