Five held for drugs, robbery

Officers of the Sangre Grande CID, Northeastern Division, conducted a raid yesterday in the Sangre Grande and Guaico area between 6 am and 2 pm where five persons between the ages of 18 and 32 were arrested on charges of robbery and possession of drugs.

The exercise which is part of the general Christmas clean-up and the Police Commissioner’s  zero tolerance on crime project, was coordinated by Sgt Fermin Roy. Also forming part of the exercise was Snr Supt Randolph Protain, Insp Edward Thomas, Sgt Heeralal Chune and Cpl Kennedy Deosoran. Three of the persons are to be charged with possession of narcotics and two are to be charged with robbery. The five are currently appearing before several identification parades and are expected to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate later this week.
