Jabloteh continue Pro League dominance

CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh continued their irresistible form in the TT Pro League while South Starworld Strikers, Joe Public and South West Institute of Football (SWIF) each shook off their bad runs with victories on Wednesday night. League leaders Jabloteh cruised past the “Stallions” Caledonia AIA 2-0 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima to stretch their advantage over second-placed W Connection to ten points. Strikers got a double from burly striker Adrian “Motty” Nunez, in the first and 18th minutes, in their 2-0 triumph over Arima Fire at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, while Devin Elcock netted a 20th minute winner to give the “Eastern Lions” Joe Public full points over North East Stars at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna.

And the inconsistent SWIF recorded their sixth win of the season,  2-1 over Defence Force at the Palo Seco Recreation Grouunds. The first half at Malabar was a forgettable one, with AIA midfielder Densil Theobald forcing Jabloteh’s goalkeeper Daurance Williams to produce a point-blank save in the 31st.But the defending champs took the initiative in the 47th with striker Nigel “Croc” Pierre flicking a long ball from defender Vernon Bailey into the path of Cornell Glen, and the national striker drilled his left-footer past AIA’s goalkeeper Kagiso Tshelameste of Botswana. Jabloteh took control of the match, running the Stallions ragged with a series of midfield inter-plays, and it was no surprise when they secured the win in the 74th. Playmaker Trent Noel sent stand-in captain Angus Eve  in the absence of Kelvin Jack) clear on the right and, with time and space, Eve found Kerry Baptiste who tapped his close range shot home.
