Bandits chop and rob two men at dump

IN TRYING to fight off three cutlass-wielding bandits, two Claxton Bay copper-wire dealers were chopped repeatedly and robbed of $1,800 yesterday.

Brian Harricharan, 25, of Sum Sum Hill, and Kalvin Bholah, 23, of Foress Park Trace, were both warded in a serious condition at the San Fernando General Hos-pital up to late yesterday evening. According to police reports, around 10 am, the two were conducting business at the Forres Park dump, when three men accosted them. The men whipped out cutlasses and demanded that Harricharan and Bholah had over their valuables.

The two resisted, however, and the bandits dealt them several chops about their bodies. The assailants then grabbed $1,800 from the bleeding men before escaping. Bholah’s father, Allan, was leaving in his car when he heard his son’s screams and saw the bandits chopping his son and Harricharan. Allan took both victims to the Couva Hospital, where they were treated and subsequently transferred to the SFGH. Up to late yesterday no arrests had been made. Gran Couva police are continuing investigations.
