Mom killed in accident
NARISSA GAJADHAR, a 26-year-old mother of St Joseph Village, San Fernando, died last night at the San Fernando General Hospital, while her husband, Jason, 23, and daughter, Patrina, aged three, remain in a serious condition at hospital.
The three were rushed to hospital after being injured when the car in which they were travelling ran off the Solomon Hochoy Highway and crashed into a concrete pillar yesterday. All three sustained injuries and were treated and warded at the hospital. Narissa subsequently died at the institution. Police reports stated that around 3 pm, the family was travelling in a red Sunny south along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, when on reaching the vicinity of the Claxton Bay overpass, Jason who was said to be driving, lost control of the car.
The car skidded across the median onto the north bound lane and crashed into the concrete pillars supporting the overpass. All three occupants were thrown out of the mangled wreck. Motorists stopped and ran to assist the victims. Eyewitnesses said the woman was unconscious and was lying in a pool of blood. At the same time, an EHS ambulance returning to its Couva base took all three to the Couva Hospital where they were treated and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital. Couva police are investigating.
