Anglican priests to adopt a hands-on approach

Canon Frank Caesar yesterday made a call to newly ordained Anglican priests not to discriminate in taking a “hands-on” approach to their spiritual duties. Canon Caesar was delivering the sermon at the ordination ceremony of seven Anglican priests at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Port-of-Spain. President George Maxwell Richards was on hand with First Lady Jean Ramjohn Richards at the packed Cathedral to witness the ordination.

“We must establish a method of inclusion rather than the selection of those to whom your mercy is extended. Too many of our people are marginalised as we fail to embrace all. Remember that you are not following an ideology or a philosophy, but a person, in the form of Jesus Christ. He was always in the centre of crowds, he was in the centre of the table for the last supper and he was in the middle of the three crosses at Calvary,” said Caesar. Caesar went on to highlight the urgency with which reform through the church is needed.

According to the Cannon, “ the church is under attack and is being fragmented. Society is being lost to lust, blinded by bigotry and paralyzed by prejudice. You are responsible for maintaining unity in the church. Wilfred Carrington, Jeff Elder, Marcus Joseph, Carlyle Lynch, Marsha Joseph, Titus Ackbarali and Richard Jacob re- affirmed their belief that God has called them to the Order of Priests following which they were formally ordained. Lyris Bailey and Alvin Best were ordained to the Order of Deacons.
