Pacer Emrit grabs hat-trick in trials

Tile It Central Sports and Trinidad and Tobago medium pacer Ryad Emrit grabbed a hattrick late yesterday afternoon for Shazam Babwah’s XI as the third cricket trial got underway at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain in Couva.

After seeing his team bowled out for just 109, Emrit accomplished the bowling feat  soon into Imran Jan’s team reply to leave them tottering at 20 for four at the close of play — still 89 runs adrift. Earlier there was tremendous assistance for the fast bowlers as Babwah’s team were skittled out for 109. The only batsmen to make an impression were Samuel Felix with 28 and Devindra Krishna 22.

Former West Indies speedster Marlon Black was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for six runs, while Brent Harriot got three for 30. Play on the second day today gets underway at 10 am with the final day being tomorrow. This is the final trial match of the season with the players taking part in the Pizza Hut Gerry Gomez North/South Classic at the weekend. After this match  the team will be named to oppose the Leeward Islands in the opening Carib Beer cricket match at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.

TRIAL SCORES
Babwah’s XI 109 (Samuel Felix 28, Devindra Krishna 22, Marlon Black 3/6, Brent Harriot 3/30) vs Imran Jan’s XI 20/4 (Ryad Emrit 3/5).
