Murdered man’s car found

The burnt-out B-14 car — PBR 4518 — belonging to murdered father of two, Carlos Phillip, was recovered around midday yesterday five miles inside Todd Station Road, Talparo. Police officers led by acting Sgt Ajith Persad, acting on a tip off went to Talparo where they found the burnt-out car in a muddy track, surrounded by bushes. Crime Scene officers carried out a thorough search of the area and seized key evidence found in nearby bushes. Other officers who assisted in the search included Sgt Phillip, Cpl Cudjoe, and PCs Toolaram and Harriet. The officers spent several hours at the scene and interviewed several people.

Talparo villagers told Newsday also, that they had seen some strange men in the area on Christmas Day. They said they had also seen smoke coming from the area. The car was towed to the Chaguanas Police Station, and will be examined today by Forensic experts. Phillip, 37, was a courier with the National Helicopter Services. He lived at La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin. Phillip was reported missing on Wednesday. His wife, Lisa Stoute Phillip, 38, an employee of Royal Bank, said she last heard from her husband on Tuesday night. Around 5 pm Christmas Day, Phillip’s body was found partially submerged in a pond at Longdenville. His hands were tied behind his back; his mouth stuffed, and his throat slit. Police believed Phillip was also tortured. His relatives had denied that Phillip was involved in drugs. An autopsy on Phillip’s body will be done today.
