More bones found in Champ Fleurs
Champ Fleurs farmer Pradeep Pramdass was clearing his land behind the Carib Brewery to plant his first season of 2004 crops when he stumbled upon a complete set of skull and dried human bones in a shallow grave. It was a minor shock for him however as this was his second similar finding within six months, a stone’s throw away from the first spot. In July, Pramdass made a similar discovery at a nearby spot on the same land. At around 1 pm, the relocated farmer was clearing the land to plant his crops when he found the human remains. Pramdass is one of the several relocated farmers originally from Ramgoolie Trace, Curepe, who are cultivating crops there while awaiting the new lands promised to them by Government.
The National Housing Authority had controversially destroyed the crops and home of the farmers at Ramgoolie Trace earlier this year and later promised to relocate them. Some were given temporary status on State lands until permanent residence could be found. The land at Champ Fleurs is earmarked to house a school attached to the University of the West Indies. When Newsday spoke to the police they had no clue about the identity of the human remains. “Fire has razed that area several times which has left the skull and bones in a very dilapidated state. “Because of this, we cannot say if the skeleton was that of a man or woman, if it was a recent death or if it was a murder. “We now have to depend on the findings of the autopsy results.” Visiting the scene were ASP Leon Anthony, Inspector Anand Ramsoodar and Ag Inspector Michael Modeste. Constable Alert Groomes is leading the investigation.
