Man opens fire on party

Three teenagers are nursing gunshot wounds after being shot at a party in Laventille on Sunday night. According to reports, the teenagers were at the party on Quarry Street, Laventille Road near the Success Laventille School, when at about 11 pm, a gunman entered the function. Police said the gunman opened fire on the guests before fleeing the scene on foot. The three teenagers, all of Laventille, received gunshot wounds. Eighteen-year-old Joel George was hit in the right shoulder, 17-year-old Michael Bascombe was shot in the buttocks and 19-year-old Timothy Johnson was shot in the right leg.

The three injured teens were all rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where they were treated for their injuries and discharged. Information reaching Newsday revealed the three teens were due to testify in the Port-of-Spain Magistrate’s court yesterday in a matter against a gang leader from Charfford Court, on upper Charlotte Street, Port-of-Spain. CPL Rowley of the Besson Street Police Station is investigating the incident.
