Arima man shot by girlfriend’s ex-lover

A Pinto Road, Arima man is now resting comfortably at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after being shot three times by his girlfriend’s former lover. According to reports, at around 1 pm yesterday, Shawn Guy, 25, was sitting with his girlfriend on a concrete bench opposite Mario’s Pizzeria on Pro-Queen Street, Arima, when he was accosted by his girlfriend’s former lover, who accused Guy of stealing his former companion. A struggle ensued and the jealous man pulled out a gun and fired three shots at Guy, who was hit in the shoulder, hand and hip.

The 26-year-old woman ran in the opposite direction, screaming for assistance. The gunman ran behind her, but was unable to catch her before she ran into the Arima Police Station where she made a report. Guy was rushed to the Arima District Hospital and was later admitted to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he is warded in satisfactory condition. Visiting the scene were ASP Wesley Moore, Inspector Samuel Bullen, Sgt Arlene Forde and Ag Cpl Simon Gosine. Cpl Gosine is investigating.
