Search for bullets at Macqueripe murder scene
Police officers and ballistic experts returned to Macqueripe yesterday with the hope of recovering the spent ammunition which they feel could assist them in the investigation of the shooting death of Neal and Massy executive Harold Henderson. Investigators described the inquiry into the murder as one of the most intricate investigations they have had to deal with so far. “We still have a lot of work to do in this investigation, and we are exploring several motives for the shooting death,” said a senior officer. Officers of the Western Division said that they are unsure what type of bullet killed Henderson, 43, who was shot on Boxing Day.
Ballistic experts were up to yesterday trying to find out if a high-powered rifle was used in the killing. It was speculated that a 7.62 bullet may have caused the death of the father of one. A spent 7.62 shell found close to the scene of the crime was tested yesterday by ballistic experts. Police investigators believe the person who shot and killed Henderson may have been a police or army officer, since both arms of the protective services use the 7.62 ammunition. Investigators also believe that the killer may have followed Henderson to Saaman Park, Macqueripe, and waited for the right moment to fire the shot. When the body of Henderson was found, he was naked.
Police learnt that Henderson and a woman were both nude when the murder took place. The killer is believed to have shot Henderson from a car. The bullet entered through the front windscreen of his Primera car. It then struck Henderson in the throat and exited through the rear window. The woman who was with Henderson when he was killed will be quizzed today by investigators, led by Snr Supt Lennox Gonzales. She is reported to be traumatised by the death and was treated for shock. Henderson’s funeral will take place at 2 pm today from the Church of Christ, Ryan Street, San Juan.
