2 more shot in Laventille
Two other people were shot and wounded in the Laventille area on Monday night in separate incidents. The first was 26-year-old Marvin Agard, who is still warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital in critical condition. According to reports, at about 8:30 pm Agard was standing in the Rose Hill area when he was approached by two men. The men are said to have opened fire on Agard, shooting him several times about the body. The gunmen fled the scene and Agard was rushed to the hospital, where he remains warded. Sources close to Newsday described the incident as gang-related.
The other shooting incident happened only minutes after the first, in the same area. The victim, 32-year-old Neil Haynes of St John’s Street Laventille, was liming with friends in the Rose Hill area at about 8:45 pm when a man whipped out a gun and shot at him. Haynes, who was shot in the left arm, was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by a passerby. Checks with the hospital yesterday revealed that Haynes was resting in a satisfactory condition. Police sources have indicated that Haynes’ shooting is also gang-related. Sgt Grant and Constables Edwards and Jules of the Besson Street CID visited the scene on Monday night.
