Pan Trinbago hosts ‘Clash of the Regions’

Pan Trinbago plans to herald the year 2004 with sweet sounds of the national instrument through its ongoing effort to re-introduce steelpan music to the current day parties. As a result Pan Trinbago has come up with the idea of “Clash of the Regions” featuring four of the top bands in the land. The event takes place at the Renegades Panyard on Charlotte Street, Port-of- Spain, on Friday, starting at 8 pm.

Participating bands at the showdown are Exodus from the East, WITCO Desperadoes from the North; NLCB Fonclaire from the South, with bpRenegades completing the playbill. Admission to party with the steelbands, and at the same time make a contribution towards the regions’ fund-raising exercise, is $25. Patrons to Friday’s event will also be entertained by a guest calypsonian. According to Pan Trinbago, Clash of the Regions is the start of the many pan activities on the Carnival calendar and a chance to hear how these bands will shape up for Panorama 2004.
