Twins born on New Year’s Day in South
TWINS were among the three New Year’s babies at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH). Around 1.18 am yesterday, 19- year-old Aneiasha Blackburn of 44 Union Park West, Marabella, gave birth to twin boys. According to Blackburn, she found it strange that around 10 pm on Wednesday, while she was baking a sweetbread her water bag burst because she was told that her due date was set for January 29. Blackburn said that she was surprised that she had twins. The first baby weighed 2.32 kilogrammes. “It was after the first baby was born that the doctors and midwives informed me that there was another baby inside me and that I needed to push even harder.” Blackburn shouted “What” and then she said that as her eyes widened in utter surprise she began to push with all her might.
Exactly nine minutes later another bouncing baby boy came forth, weighing 1.82 kilogrammes. However, unfortunately News-day did not have the privilege of catching the double bundle of joy on camera. Both babies were resting comfortably in the hospital’s nursery. The newly born twins now makes Blackburn the mother of four boys. Her first child is aged three and her second is aged one year and eight months. When asked if she wanted more children she quickly responded with a bright grin saying “Nah, that was very painful and further more I was expecting one child but God gave me two, which adds to four boys-so I think that is enough, no more.” Blackburn’s common-law husband, 23-year-old, Crawford Simmons visited her and the babies later on that day. As the first mother to deliver at Ward 13 of the SFGH, Blackburn was the recipient of specially made packages from both Cheekies and Teddies Products.
Ann-Rose Christopher, marketing representative of Cheekies presented her with a three months’ supply of diapers and a hamper containing a Cheekies bath tub, one month supply of Cheekies disposable diapers, an Agfa album for baby’s first pictures, a first junior colour by number Cheekies book, a Cheekies baby stool, a Winnie the Pooh Growth Chart and Hershey’s products. She also received a three months’ supply of Teddies diapers and a hamper containing disposable diapers, sanitary napkins, baby hats, baby vests and a quantity of Johnson and Johnson products from marketing representative of Misons Industries, Corinne Pulchan. The third new year baby boy born to Tara Bisnahsingh of No 3 Kindly Street, Princes Town, came at 6.26 am weighing 2.2 kilogrammes. Each mother on the ward also received hampers courtesy Teddies Products.
