US Embassy telephone number

The Embassy of the United States in Port-of-Spain takes this opportunity to inform the community that the Embassy has only one telephone number, 622-6371. This is the number to call during business hours for routine matters.

Calls regarding Nonimmigrant Visas are accepted at the same number daily 2-3 pm, while immigrant Visa inquiries are handled 1-3 pm. Non-emergency American Citizen Services calls are accepted 8-11.30 am and 1-3 pm. This is the same number to call 24/7 for emergencies involving American citizens.

Due to high call volume, we urge our customers to visit the Embassy website trinidad.usembassy.gov for answers to most questions.

We are aware that until quite recently a user-pays toll number for visa questions was still active, and still charging anyone who dialled.

Although the Embassy discontinued this service several years ago, the number — 1-976-8721 — remained active, unfortunately. Although tolls may have been charged, the Embassy did not collect or receive any portion of these tolls.

Following Ms Dumas’ letter, we again requested that the number be disconnected immediately. We have also taken steps to correct the phone directories.

Our listing in TSTT’s online directory was corrected Tuesday, and the toll number was deactivated on Wednesday. We have been assured that the next print edition of the phone directory, due out in August, will also be corrected. We apologise for the frustration this has caused.
