In 2000, he debuted with “Commess in de Place”. Over the years, Patch released hits like “Dat Lookin Bad”, “Macomere Man”, “De Tail Gone”, “Calling me Name”, “Rum and Roti”, “Misbehavin” and “Ah Ting”. He collaborated with artistes like Lady Saw for “A Good Woman”, Super Jigga TC for “Bay Rum”, and Ziggy Rankin for “Prevention”. Last year, people could not stop singing Patch’s infectious tune “Pipe”.
Patch has written songs for Byron Lee, Oscar B, Kurt Allen, Leon Caldero and Ian Mckenize. He is also hosts the Tempo Presents and the Cross Caribbean Countdown on Tempo.
For Carnival 2K11, Patch released “Damn Phone” as well as “Head Nice” featuring Yankee Boy and Cassi. He performed in the Soca Chutney Monarch prelims. Patch has also entered the Power Soca Monarch and Groovy Soca Monarch semis.
1.Describe yourself in three words?
Humourous, cool and outgoing.
2.If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
A hummingbird.
3.What is your favourite food?
I love Indian food like dhal, rice and curry goat with a lil anchar on the side. Plus I love the classic Sunday lunch like macaroni pie, callaloo and stew chicken.
4.What is your favourite flavour of ice cream?
Vanilla.
5.What is your philosophy on life?
“God is de Boss”. I like to focus on my spiritual side. There is a force that controls the universe. I am where I am today because of God and the good people around me.
6.What was your childhood dream?
I never thought much about it until I was older.
7.What does happiness mean to you?
Happiness means having peace of mind and being close to my wife and four kids.
8.What song is stuck in your head?
Honestly, my track “Head Nice” and “Town Ting” by Cassi. That’s what we perform live right through.
9.What are the things you cannot live without?
My Blackberry, jewelry, my wallet or my keys. I always have them on me and without it I feel like something is missing.
10.Whom do you wish to emulate in life?
I have always admired soca artiste Ronnie McIntosh.
11.What traits do you find most attractive in a mate?
Personality is just as important as looks. I admire my wife because she is not argumentative and not on any bacchanal vibes. She is very down-to-earth and caring.
12.What is the most interesting person, place, or thing that you have had the opportunity to meet, learn or experience?
After a show in Hollywood, I remember meeting the legendary boxing promoter Don King in the airport. Growing up we always watched boxing. We took up out photos and it was really memorable.
13.What is an interesting facet of your personality that most people do not know about you?
I am a very giving person. Also, I may not confront someone who is talking crap behind my back, but I will know how to conduct myself around them.
14.Do you have any vices, flaws or weaknesses?
Being intimate with my wife.
15.What was your most embarrassing experience ever?
While I was performing with Atlantik in Anchorage years ago, I forgot the words to my own song.
16.What is your pet peeve?
Frenemies, envious people and people who like to bad talk.
17.Do you have any regrets?
I regret some past relationships.
18.What is the one thing you would like to accomplish before you die?
I just want all of my friends and family to have everything that they need and want in life. If I can do that, I will be satisfied.
19.What is the best compliment you have every received?
My wife tells me I have nice eyes and I am handsome. It means more coming from her.
20.If you could live your life all over again, would you choose a different path?
I would have avoided some of the negative influences in my life. But I love Trinidad, I love our music, people and culture, so I would not change that.
