Murder and suicide in Freeport

A 42-year-old taxi driver and father of three shot his wife to death last night then turned the gun on himself at their wooden house on Lime Fruit Road, in Freeport.

Rasheed Hosein fatally shot his wife, Sadia, 41, twice, then shot himself. The couple have three children, ages 19, 17 and 11. According to reports the couple usually quarrelled on a daily basis. However, after Sadia reported to the police that Rasheed had raped his step-daughter, Rasheed went into hiding in some bushes not far from their house. Late yesterday, Newsday was told Rasheed started another quarrel with his wife and neighbours said they heard two gunshots, and then a third. Checking shortly after, they discovered the couple dead from gunshots. Freeport police are investigating.
