Coke salesman sent to jail

AN EAST Tobago man has been jailed for 35 days with hard labour for attempting to sell cocaine to two visitors from a cruise ship in Scarborough on Friday. Gaston “Tim” Joseph, 50, of Pembroke, was Monday fined $1,000 for possession of two grammes of cocaine by Scarborough Senior Magistrate Annette McKenzie. He was ordered to pay the sum immediately but was unable to do so, and had to serve the alternative jail term. Joseph was charged by Detective Leslie Grant of the Scarborough Port Security Unit. The court heard that the tourists were sightseeing at the Botanical Gardens in Scarborough when Grant, who was on surveillance in the area, saw Joseph try to sell them the drug.
