Hunters charged for possession of illegal guns

ONE of the eyewitnesses to the shooting death of a hunter on Friday collapsed at his Arima home and is now under police guard at hospital.

Christopher Kanhai was shot dead by police at the Lalaja Forest, Blanchisseuse last Wednesday. Former PNM Councillor, Melan Garcia who was one of the hunters with Kanhai collapsed at his Calvary Hill, Arima home on Friday night and is currently under police guard at the Eric Williams Medical Complex after being  arrested and charged for illegal possession of arms and ammunition. Another man Brian Sorzano aka “Mudhead” who was also in the party of five was also arrested and is currently in police custody on a similar charge. Both men are expected to appear before an Arima court magistrate on tomorrow, while Commissioner Snaggs has ordered an investigation into the shooting and a report is expected later this week.
