Govt distances itself from Yetming’s statement
Government is contemplating making a statement in the House of Representatives today to distance itself from the allegations made by Opposition MP Gerald Yetming and to make it abundantly clear to the Government of Jamaica that it does not support the UNC MP’s assertions, Prime Minister Patrick Manning hinted yesterday. However he said Government was not considering interfering with privilege under which a Member of Parliament has to make statements or allegations against persons. Yetming charged last Friday that a Government minister had received an undisclosed sum of money to faciliate a plan for 20 percent of First Citizens Bank to be sold to Jamaican business tycoon Michael Lee Chin.
