Trincity Mall begs for police post

INSTEAD of beefing up security, the administrators of Trincity Mall are calling for a police post. But the police administration in the Northern Division has refused the request. “What they need to do is increase their private security because on a regular basis they are increasing the size of the mall but keeping the security at the same size. “What has happened is that the expansion of the mall has made the small security team ineffective. “What they need to do is increase the size of the security.”

Over the last three months, there has been a reported 50  percent increase in the number of car thefts and robberies at the mall. A meeting was called between the mall administrators and the Arouca police after the administrators failed to put in place the officers’ recommendations. At the meeting, the administrators made the request for the police post which was turned down. Another meeting is planned soon with the hope of resolving the problem.
