Scotia 2011calendar wins five Addys
Judging for the prestigious 2011 Caribbean Advertising Federation (CAF) Addy Awards, took place in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands in March. This event recognises excellence across various media and is sponsored annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Over 480 entries were received from companies representing a cross section of the Caribbean including Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, St Thomas, USVI, St Lucia and Puerto Rico.
This year, Scotiabank focussed on the richness of our “local music, culture, tradition, enterprise, creativity and talent” in their 2011 calendar. General Manager, Strategic Marketing for Scotiabank, Gillian Benjamin said “we wanted to help capture those expressions, in a vibrant, impactful way that was representative of the richness of our people and visual artist Nicole Craig’s style was an ideal choice to bring those expressions to life.”
According to President of VTI, Steven Valdez: “There was a synergy between Nicole and our creative team that brought the calendar to life, and clearly the judges recognised this.”
Craig’s individual illustrations also won gold and silver awards as elements of advertising.
Valdez & Torry’s Scotiabank calendar submission, was the only gold award winner and they were the only local agency to win an award in that specialty advertising category.
As co-president VTI, Christian Torry explained,” Year after year, we have made our mark in that category as we understand what it takes to stand out with direct marketing and collateral pieces for our clients”.
