TT’s Parliament is not for ‘kicks’

THE EDITOR: The way some of the opposition politicians behave in Parliament and the Senate, I often wonder if they are there just for “kicks” or to represent in a very meaningful way the wants and needs of the citizens, more so, their supporters. Having looked at the behaviour of Senator Robin Montano in the Senate recently, I immediately remembered the words of the late Dr Eric Williams who once told the then Opposition, quote: “PNMites are a bunch of intellectuals, and if you all cannot understand us, then soar in height as an eagle in flight and pick up some knowledge from the PNMites.” If Opposition after Opposition had taken his advice, some of them would not have behaved as they are doing now.

No wonder why instead of the sun rising in their favour it plunged them into the depths of oblivion. During the last General and Local Elections the electorates had shown that they were fed up with the way some of the members of the UNC party have behaved — disgusting, sickening and nauseating. Just imagine the Leader of the Opposition calling the Speaker of the House a gadahar, meaning donkey. Metaphorically speaking, some of the names of these men are already in the Guinness Book of Records — having about 3000 names in stacks of books via a trolley, nominating one and voting against him. All I can say is that some of these politicians don’t feed their famished minds of the intellectual pleasures that they were denied. Never too late to turn, never too late to learn. Start now.
