Boogsie stable after emergency surgery

A CLOSE relative of ailing pan virtuoso Len “Boogsie” Sharpe said his condition was stable but critical yesterday, hours after he underwent emergency surgery at the St Clair Medical Centre to remove part of his colon. Doctors at the private medical facility are closely monitoring his condition. The three-hour operation was performed by Dr Keron Fung Kee Fung on Tuesday night to remove gangrenous parts of his colon, the relative said. Boogsie’s medical team was optimistic. Yesterday morning they reportedly saw some signs of improvement.

Nikki Borde, the mother of Boogsie’s child, said three weeks ago he complained of feeling unwell and visited a doctor who prescribed sleeping tablets and ordered him to rest. Borde said: “Boogsie did not know that he had high blood pressure and diabetes.” Boogsie’s close friend, Franklyn Olliviere, said the popular pan man’s blood sugar level skyrocketed Tuesday night just before he underwent surgery but his condition has improved since then.
