Immigration officer charged with fraud
AN IMMIGRATION officer charged with several counts of fraud was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $100,000 with a surety. Harnarine Madhosingh, 57, of Emerald Gardens, Arima, appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor charged with forging a Trinidad and Tobago birth certificate and three Trinidad and Tobago passports.
He was also charged with making a false statement in a passport application, aiding and abetting Basdeo Ramnarine by issuing him a Trinidad and Tobago passport and falsely stating that he had seen and interviewed Basdeo Ramnarine on February 22, 2000. The fraudulent offences allegedly occurred at Scarborough, Tobago, on February 29, 2000 and March 1 and 20, 2000. The matter was adjourned to January 28 and transferred to the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court at the request of Ramischand.
