Firing rewards for courage
The Editor: It is interesting to note that Ms Sarah Flood-Beaubrun was the only person in the St Lucia Government who was courageous enough to vote against the legalisation of killing babies in their mothers wombs. Ms Flood-Beaubrun was, at the time, Minister for Home Affairs and Gender Relations. She held true to her Ministry, by voting against a Bill that would severely damage both the family in general and women in particular. She also bravely chastised her Cabinet colleagues, letting them know that, by passing that heinous legislation, they would be, in effect, child killers.
And, how was her courage rewarded? She was fired. Calling her colleagues “child killers” was not disrespectful, could not be described as “invective,” but it was the truth, and the truth offends those who have committed ill deeds. People are only insulted by the truth when they do not wish to acknowledge truth. Sarah Flood-Beaubrun is to be admired for her courageous stand. She is a role-model for all true women. She did everything she could to turn her colleagues away from the evil deed of making abortion legal. Unfortunately, they did not listen to her. Neither did they listen to the people of St. Lucia. Ms. Flood-Beaubrun, I salute you, and thank you for your stand for truth. The Lord will surely bless you for what you did.
