Cops seize ski masks, gun, ammo ganja
Two ski-masks, three pairs of gloves, a .357 Magnum revolver, a quantity of ammunition and marijuana were seized during a massive police exercise carried out in Central Division yesterday.
A woman was among the 45 persons arrested. The exercise which, started at 2 am and ended at midday, was led by Inspector Raphael and Sgts Lumy, Sylvester and Ag Sgt Ajith Persad. Police believe with the seizure of the gun, ski masks and gloves, they may be able to solve several armed robberies in Central Division. During the exercise, officers executed a search warrant at London Street, Longdenville, where they arrested a 25-year-old man and seized a seven chamber .357 Magnum revolver and 36 rounds of ammunition. Officers also seized two ski-masks and three pairs of gloves.
Investigators believe the items seized were used in several, recent armed robberies in the division. The same officers then went to Paradath Street, Longdenville, where they arrested a 21-year-old woman and three men ages 20, 21 and 33 for possession of 24 rounds of 9 mm ammunition. Officers also went to Flemming Street, Longdenville, where they executed a search warrant and arrested a 28-year-old man for 12 rounds of ammunition. A 20-year-old man wanted for the rape of a 46-year-old Longdenville school teacher and her 21-year-old daughter was also arrested. He was interrogated yesterday about other robberies in Central. The teacher and her daughter were raped by two men who then robbed them of a Wingroad vehicle valued $56,000.
