Lackpatsingh murder suspect in court tomorrow
A 21-year-old suspect was charged Friday with the murder of probation officer, Krista Lackpatsingh.
The Cedros man was charged following instructions from Director of Public Prosecutions, Geoffery Henderson. The suspect, allegedly gave a statement to the police confessing to the crime. In the statement, the suspect, told police he did not know the woman was home and he and two other persons went to rob the place. However, the girl caught them in the house. He said she grabbed the knife away from him and a struggle ensued. During the fight she was able to take away the knife and slashed him on his right hand. The suspect said he retrieved the knife from her and repeatedly stabbed her. An autopsy revealed that Lackpatsingh died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple stab wounds. Lackpatsingh, who was stationed at the Point Fortin Magistrates Court, was discovered by her parents, lying in a pool of blood at her Limefield Road, Cedros home, around 4 pm, on Tuesday.
