Terrifying reaction to Cro Cro’s song

THE EDITOR: What is most disturbing about the current controversy over Cro Cro’s song “Face Reality” is not so much the song itself but it is the reaction or should I say the non-reaction of prominent and influential persons and groups in this society. Cro Cro has won the National Monarch crown at least three times and as such is regarded as a cultural icon, the “people’s poet,” and here he is glorifying and encouraging the crime of kidnapping. Where are the church leaders? Where are the government leaders? Where are those who claim to be concerned about our moral and spiritual values?

To those who want to pretend that making an issue of Cro Cro’s song is making a storm in a teacup I want to draw their attention to the reaction the song is receiving in the tents. The fact of the matter is that Cro Cro and his song are influencing people. People are actually saying that the man have a point! I have to admit that I am terrified, not only of Cro Cro but of the mass of ignorance being displayed in this society. I can hold my head high and say that neither me nor my family have profited from any illegal activity. My parents never partied, and I could remember them travelling abroad only once. What I have today, is the result of years of hard work, sacrifice and thrift by generations of my forefathers. How do I convince Cro Cro’s “bandit friends” of this? Can Cro Cro tell them to have mercy on us?
