Two in court for fisherman’s murder
TWO men appeared in court yesterday charged with last year’s murder of an Icacos fisherman. Both men, Verne Sambury and Nimrod Miguel of New Grant, appeared before Magistrate Jai Narine in the Princes Town First Court. The charge was laid indictably and the men were not called on to plead.
The charge against the two alleged that the murder of 37-year-old fisherman Ramesh Lalchan occurred sometime between December 29 and 31 last year. Cpl Zamsheed Mohammed was the court prosecutor. Lalchan’s body was discovered in a canefield in Craignish Village, Princes Town, on Old Year’s Day. There were three bullets wounds to his head. Investigations were conducted by ASP Paul and Cpls Gregory Renwick and Hamid. Cpl Renwick laid the charges against the accused men. Both men were unrepresented in court and are due to reappear in court on February 5.
