CRO CRO’S song is a reflection of ourselves
THE EDITOR: The front page news on Cro Cro is well taken. But Cro Cro is not at fault. The fault lies with his audience who called for more, encore, encore. What Cro Cro has done is to reveal the type of society we live in. It is a half made society and half ruled as advertisements show, by a political leader and not a national Prime Minister. What Cro Cro sings about is the very reason there are so many uneducated, unemployable people in the country. He hides between the lines the utter frustration of his audience who simply failed to succeed in life, and live in a life of delusions. He sang about where the blame lies, but indeed it is a pack of lies, which his audience enjoyed. Cro Cro blames not those who work three out of eight hours a day achieving nothing, but those who work 16 hours a day achieving a visibility that is enviable. Envy leads to hate, so what does the little man sing about but hate.
Soon it will be the doubles vendors turn for blame, as the world’s cheapest meal feeds the nation of all ethic types. It is well known that doubles vendors build their own homes, and in time more vendors will build homes avoid the NHA dependency syndrome. But they too will be blamed for dishonesty. So Cro Cro sings of his frustration, whilst his leaders hear of the pain of the threat of drugs, of guns and murder. Kidnapping remains a temporary job. And it is only jobs that will solve their pain and not education. It is this same stupidity, where those who are successful in life must be seen as crooks, and so creating a half nation of mooks. Cro Cro seems to have forgotten the past. Forgetting that for 38 years since 1956, self government has brought us to this awful state of affairs. There were two periods worth remembering, with a different direction — one where the treasury was left empty and the other where it was left full, only to be devoured in avarice. But the spin doctors were at work. Find blame. So there was blame for progress, blame for the numerous schools, the stadia, the roads and bridges.
Blame the new police stations for the police were so comfortable that their response time was affected. Blame the free secondary education for all. Dr Alleyne joined the chorus adding that it contributed to today’s violence in schools. Blame dollar for dollar for tertiary education, as this discriminates against those who will not save a dollar. So the wise get richer, the unwise takes CEPEP. Blame for the school in Biche, where the poor residents seeking a higher learning are being gassed. Blame the FTAA-friendly airport. Blame is the name of the game for the incompetence in ruling a nation. And, those who sat in the front rows of the Cro Cro tent, and those who blindly live on handouts, and applaud, encore, encore, unless you put on a thinking cap, what Cro Cro is telling you, is that you are doomed. By the way if you want a free all inclusive ticket to Carnival fetes, please call the nation’s Statutory Boards, there is a free giveaway of national funds.
