Only one party corrupt, Cro Cro?

THE EDITOR: Amidst the hysterical calls about Cro Cro’s calypso, “Face Reality,” I want to make a firm and unequivocal call for Cro Cro to continue to sing his song. You see I do believe that the calypsonian is the voice of the people. From its very origins calypso has put into words and song the true feelings of the masses. This view is supported by the tremendous support Cro Cro receives for his song in the tent every night. Therefore, I wish for a certain sector of the community to take careful note of what the masses think.

I want this sector of the community to note the very different treatment meted out to Mr Panday when he called for non violent civil disobedience and persons in the print and electronic media were screaming at him for being reckless and unpatriotic. Is Cro Cro being patriotic? I want a certain sector of the society to remember the arrests of certain Members of Parliament who were engaged in a peaceful march to highlight the concerns of the population about the crime situation in our country. Can their action be deemed any more criminal than Cro Cro’s who actively encourages the most heinous criminal activity? One clarification I would like Cro Cro to make however, is if his song also applies to all those politicians from all past regimes who were perceived to be corrupt, or does it apply only to those of one political party?
